A suspected World War Two bomb has been safely removed after it was found at a Plymouth recycling centre.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Chelson Meadow Waste Reception Centre at about 14:30 BST after the item was discovered.

Plymouth City Council said the Royal Navy ordnance disposal team had removed the unknown object.

A 100m (328ft) cordon had been put in place and the recycling centre was shut but has since reopened.
